At CWM Aggregates Ltd, community means more than just your construction and landscaping needs—it means standing by causes that deeply touch our hearts. We are honoured to share that we have formed a partnership with the Southampton Hospitals Charity, supporting specifically the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at University Hospital Southampton. This unit is our charity of choice, because their essential work helping newborn babies—both premature and full-term—is something we deeply respect and want to help.
Why We Chose the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UHS
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital Southampton is one of the largest and most advanced of its kind in the UK. Every year, they care for around 900 babies, serving families not only across Hampshire but from the South of England, the Channel Islands, and even further when specialist care is needed.
They are equipped with:
- 23 intensive and high-dependency cots
- 14 special care cots, each with the latest monitoring technology
- A welcoming environment designed to support families during extremely difficult times
This level of care, combined with the hope they offer to parents and caregivers, makes them a cause we at CWM Aggregates feel proud to support.
How We Raised £16,000 Together
Giving back is part of who we are, and we couldn’t have done this without our local community, partners, customers, and suppliers.
In conjunction with The Brigadier Gerard, we organised several fundraising events:
- A community BBQ at the CWM yard
- A charity raffle
- An auction
- A golf day
These efforts together raised an impressive £16,000, which we have donated to Southampton Hospitals Charity.
What the Funds Will Provide
We are pleased to share that the money raised will go toward a variety of much-needed equipment and support, including:
- Ventilators, incubators, and feeding pumps
- Cooling systems and specialist transport equipment
- Toys, clothing, and comfort items for babies
- Improved facilities for parents staying in the unit
- Further staff education to maintain and improve standards of care
Each of these makes a real difference to the lives of families at their most vulnerable moments.
